I had my first little hypnobub (third baby) on the 30th of August!!
My entire birth was amazing and the first time I went into spontaneous labour too! During labour, I used the breathing techniques, flopping/staying relaxed during surges and kept my positive affirmations going to keep focused. I had a little gas during transition but that was it. Bub was born in the water like my first two births but this one was so much less intense and I actually wanted to do it all over again as soon as he was born!!!!
I also felt amazing after delivery. I had little discomfort and didn't need any pain relief which I again put down to feeling so relaxed during birthing and not tensing my muscles!
I also want to mention that immediately after my son was born my amazing midwife simply stated "Beautiful! That is how you birth!"). That will stay with me forever....
My baby was also extremely alert and quiet and slept for 8 hrs.....
So thank you. This was the birth I needed. Now to convince...
Lucy is now 3 days old and healthy and we managed to have the positive, natural birth that we planned for! It was amazing!
After the Thursday morning assessment in which a new obstetrician was, unfortunately, pressuring me into a caesarean again (because of the high head and extra fluid and his past bad experiences with cord prolapse) I got to the point where I was at a loss for words having repeated the same BRAIN technique questions over and over and not being satisfied that all roads pointed to a caesarean.
Because my husband and I had prepared for this he jumped in and said we'd like a second opinion. I was starting to feel like every doctor would have the same opinion when a younger doctor said to me it's really good that I'm asking questions and self-advocating because obstetricians are risk averse due to the litigious nature of society and zero tolerance for unhealthy baby and mum outcomes. I said that's not a good enough reason for me to hand over/ not be apart of...
My first daughter was born 3 1/2 years ago. Her birth was very traumatic for me, I suffered 2 seizures after her birth, leaving me with very little memories of her birth. After that, it seemed like it was one thing after another, which led to postpartum depression.
Almost 3 years later we were expecting the birth of another baby girl. I was determined not to have the same experience last time and to be able to overcome the fears I had from my previous birth. I sought out Hypnobirthing because I knew I needed something that dealt with the mental aspect. The Fear Release track was pretty emotional for me the first time I listened but really helped me in making progress to overcome some of my mental hurdles.
Hi Melissa,
I hope this message finds you well.
I wasn’t quite sure how to start this rather long message, or whether I should even send it, but I decided to because I needed to say thank you!
I completed your online hypnobirthing course with my first pregnancy, in 2016. I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Ruby in February 2017. Hypnobirthing was the reason why I was able to have a successful, induced but natural, drug-free birth. It was an amazing experience
When I fell pregnant again, 4 months after having Ruby, I immediately began my hypnobirthing relaxation and meditation practice again, including a revisit to the online course. I was determined to have an even more amazing experience hypnobirthing my second baby.
Due to some medical concerns (same as first pregnancy), I was induced again and this time was placed on a syntocin drip straight away. For 6 hours I was hypnobirthing like a boss! I thought to myself, I’m so relaxed I could fall...
I just wanted to thank you as I have learned so much from the online course!
I listened to the Affirmations every day and the line that got me through was “I am prepared to calmly meet whatever turn my birthing takes” as my birthing preferences did not go as planned and I ended up needing an emergency c section after arriving at the hospital.
During this time I used the breathing techniques you taught us and repeated affirmations and everyone was very surprised at how calm I was during this hectic time.
Our little one arrived via c section and is absolutely perfect and I honestly don’t think I would have handled it this well if it hadn’t been for you and your classes. Thank you so much for all you do!
Lauren

I read so many positive birth stories when pregnant and know how important they are to feel prepared for your own birthing day. I found them very empowering, especially when I read stories that did not go as ‘planned’ but the outcome was still beautiful; like ours.
We had planned a homebirth with a community midwifery programme (CMP) for our first baby. I was originally under the care of another hospital up to week 32 but found our preferences were not being met so moved to the CMP, this also allowed us to consider a homebirth. The homebirth aspect I hadn’t thought too much about beforehand but having done some research and discussing it with the CMP midwives, myself and my partner, Aidan, became more and more certain that this was something we wanted to try. So, we got accepted onto the CMP at 35 weeks of pregnancy. We set up our home for the water birth and I continued my Hypnobubs training and awaited the arrival of our baby (we didn’t know the gender). 40...
