Hi,
Hi,
I would like to share my birthing story I am a FTM and Henry was born on Monday 24th August weighing 3.96kg at 41 + 1. I had a very positive birth experience which I feel was due to the preparation I had done, the confidence I had in my body and my baby gained from this course and the 2 incredible midwives that birthed me.
I had a booked induction on the evening of the 24th but ended up going into hospital on the morning of the 23rd as my partner and I had been concerned about reduced foetal movements overnight. I was less concerned on the drive up to the hospital as he started to move but thought it would be good to have a check and a ‘dummy run’ hospital visit as we had not been able to visit the birth suite before due to COVID restrictions.
They performed an EEG and ultrasound and reassured me that baby was fine. The doctor was concerned that the placenta looked ‘aged’ and recommended bringing the induction forward... I was not keen as I...

Planned positive induction (due date related)
hours from 1st contraction (start of drip) to birth - 2 hours 25 minutes
Midwifery group at public hospital
No pain medication during labour, vrs give me ALL THE DRUGS for the after pains
3.35
episiotomy, vacuum, contraction, step B positive, coached pushing.
I did the Hypnobubs course with my first labour 2 years ago. I found it so good, it really prepared me for my birth so I used the same tools for this birth. My 1st labour I arrived to the hospital 10cm dilated and I was so calm throughout, even though it ended up with an episeotomy and vaccum (My son was too chilled in there and after 3 hours of pushing he wasn't moving) this course really helped to keep me calm and I still think it was such a positive birth
I'd been bouncing on my ball, drinking rasberry leaf tea, taking rasberry leaf tablets, eating dates & rubbing clary sage on my bump from 37 weeks convinced Id...

We had planned (or more so hoped) for a natural drug free birth. Our doctor had been trying to get us to induce at 39 weeks due to bub measuring in the 99th percentile at 36 week scans. We refused and tried to push on for a natural birth. Our hospital allows us to go through till 10 days past due, so we thought we had plenty of time to try and get bubs to come on his own. From 38 weeks, we tried everything to get him moving along, nothing worked.
At our 41 week midwife appointment, as a last ditch effort, we tried an S&S, my cervix was so closed that it couldn't even be attempted, I was told my external cervix was at about 1cm dilated. So at this stage, we were booked in to start the induction process at 9 days over due. The plan was to go in over night, attempt the gel and if that didn't work, waters to be released the next morning and then the drip started after.
I...

I had a stretch and sweep performed by my midwife on Tuesday (day before he was born at 41+3). As expected, I was experiencing some period type dull cramps that entire day. By 11pm I was feeling something a lot stronger. They were about 2 minutes apart but nothing too intense. I called my midwife and she said considering I am still able to talk through them she would like me to wait until they are a lot more intense. During these early labour surges I felt as though I needed to poop and vomit and the same time so I spent most of my time on the toilet. I ended up going back to bed around 3am and that’s when my surges completely slowed down to an inconsistent 7-12 minutes apart lasting about 45 seconds which allowed me to rest until about 5.30am.
I continued to labour leaning over...
Dear Melissa,
Positive Birth Experience after C-Section:
My first birth didn’t go the way I planned. I took the birth class from the hospital, read the books, listened to the podcasts. What could go wrong?? I went in for my 39 week appointment and was pretty miserable. I am a school teacher and it was getting harder and harder to work, so my Dr. mentioned an induction. I was 3-4 cm dilated and 80% effaced everything seemed to be just right for the induction to work perfectly. So on September 12, 2018 I went in for an induction. I labored all day with no pain meds. My Dr. broke my water about 6 hours in and the surges got so incredibly hard that I had to get an epidural and had almost immediate relief. After about an hour I was 9 cm dilated, and I started to feel the pain come in pretty strong. The epidural wasn’t working anymore and I was feeling all the contractions so strongly. The baby wasn’t positioned correctly and I pushed for what seemed like an eternity to no avail. I...
Hi all,
I'm a FTM, my beautiful baby girl is now 3.5 weeks old. I wanted to share my birth story because it turned out completely different to what I had planned or expected going in. Sorry it's a long one!)
I started feeling surges at 41 + 3 and was cautiously excited as I had an induction booked 3 days later which I was hoping to avoid. I laboured at home for 1.5 days and when I was assessed at the hospital I was only 3cm dilated. They gave me the option to go home or start an induction process with artificial rupture of membranes and then synthetic oxytocin because my surges had been irregular (baby was posterior which I was told could cause this, as well as the intense back pain I was feeling with each surge). By then I was so exhausted from surges and lack of sleep that I chose to start the induction.
After a while on the synthetic oxytocin my surges were coming with almost no rest in between, and I decided I needed an epidural in order to get through the rest of the labour...
Hi Melissa, thank you for your nice email. I wrote my birth story for you. It was an amazing experience and I thank you so much
My daughter was already overdue so I was trying to help her out a little. I was walking a lot, bouncing on the ball, having hot baths and sex. I was really relaxed the whole pregnancy and I wasn’t scared at all, I was looking forward to meeting our baby girl. When I was around 35weeks I bought your course online and I loved it. I did all of it but especially visualisations and breathing techniques made a huge difference! Thank you. I was also relaxed with the birth of my first daughter but I didn’t breathe, I hold my breath and wrinkle my face and waiting for the end of the wave. Also, I was just laying in the bed and waiting for end. That’s why my first birth took 28hours. At that time I had no idea why breathing is so important.
Anyway, I had a positive...
