It was all so beautiful and everything I had envisioned for my last birth.

My birth story

It all began last Saturday when I was induced (due to a few different reasons). I felt like I was having random on and off contractions all week and had a feeling I had started dilating.

I had the first set of gels at roughly 8.30-9.00pm, the midwife checked my cervix and could feel it hadn't dilated (so I was wrong thinking I had started dilating during the week)
After about an hour I started to get slight contractions. I couldn't sleep so I laid in bed and continued to watch the ranch while Roland got some zz.

As time went on it felt like the surges were getting stronger but I wasn't sure if it was all in my head or if it was really happening.

The midwife came back at 2am and inserted the second gels. I had only dilated 1cm. Pretty much as soon as the second gels were inserted the surges really ramped up and already felt close together.

I didn't wake Roland up and walked around the room on my own for about an hour or so as the surges became quite full on. I decided...

My goal in taking this course was to have a drug-free birth that was comfortable. What I found was empowerment and encouragement.

I wanted to express my thanks for this program. Other women’s stories helped me throughout my pregnancy, so I wanted to post mine. Hopefully, it can encourage anyone whose pregnancy doesn’t go “as planned”.

I started Hypnobubs during my third pregnancy. This was a surprise baby and I was considered “high risk” from the outset because I would be 43yrs of age at delivery. My goal in taking this course was to have a drug-free birth that was comfortable. What I found was empowerment and encouragement.

My pregnancy did not go as I had hoped. At 21 weeks I was in a bad auto accident that left me injured and changed my prenatal plans. All the while I continued to repeat the affirmations that I had heard so often in this program…I am prepared to accept whatever turn my birthing takes. The affirmations and tracks brought peace and comfort when my pregnancy journey felt overwhelming. I completed all the modules, engaged in birth...

✨My Hypnobubs positive birth story (first-time mum)✨

We had trouble conceiving and tried unsuccessfully naturally for 8 months before being referred to a fertility clinic due to my age (38 at that time). After an 18 month roller coaster of emotions and 4 attempts we fell pregnant via ICSI using a frozen embryo. The tears of pain suddenly turned to tears of joy after watching so many of our friends and family fall pregnant.

I wanted to try for a water birth at KEMH Family Birth Centre but I went into this birth not at all married to my birth preferences, and fortunately, this mindset assisted me all the way through. Nothing went as planned, but it didn’t really matter in the end, as my little one arrived safe and healthy πŸ’•

I woke up around 5am on Friday 21 May with period like cramps. I thought felt some contractions around 10 mins apart in bed. I...

Not an everyday successful birth story.

Not an everyday successful birth story. But do want to put my experience there for other mums.

We had to induce the bub at week 38 because my HG hasn’t been able to give enough nutrition to the bub. My fundal height was really low and the doctor got worried. Bub born at 2.6kg so the doctor was quite right actually.

On the day of the induction, my cervix was only 1 cm dilated and it’s tucked behind the baby’s head which made the internal exam and breaking the water extremely hard. Thanks to Hypnobirthing, I was able to breathe through the whole thing. The midwife actually said I need to teach them how to focus and breathe and that my pain tolerance is incredibly high.

After the water break, started the drip and everything around 11:00 am. The contraction was getting stronger and longer with each dose increase. I managed until around 4:30 pm with visualisation and breathing, counting my breath and also used vocalisation when others start...

Although birth didn’t go according to plan, we felt empowered in our knowledge of the birth process.

Sharing my positive birth story - even though it didn’t go according to plan!

I went into labour at 2am at 39+5. I could feel the surges getting more intense, but they weren’t getting more frequent. I stayed at home, using the shower, birthing ball, and touch techniques to manage.

After 24 hours, the surges were about four minutes apart and something in me knew we had to head to the hospital. Luckily, we’re in a small country town so the hospital was a two-minute drive away.

Once we got there, we settled into the birthing suite and I got in the shower, then the bath. Hubby set it up so it was like a sanctuary - my hypnobirthing tracks playing, lights off, electric candles on. I refused a VE as I trusted my body and thought I was heading in the right direction.

After about five hours, nothing had changed with the surges - they were still four minutes apart and no more intense. By this stage, I’d been labouring for almost 30...

Hi Melissa,

Been busy settling with baby, it's been 2 months since he was born already! How crazy is that?

My birth story:

On the 22nd of Dec, I saw a bit of my mucus plug and nothing much else happened so I went about my day as normal. I called the birth suite and they said it sounded like things has started so I went in for a check up. They confirmed that everything was fine and to come in again the next morning at 8am. They said if nothing happened over night they would need to induce me to prevent infection.

On the 23rd of December at 4.30am, I started to feel some light surges so I popped on the affirmations and laid in bed and breathed through them. I got up had a cup of tea and felt ok. I was just chatting to my family then I felt a rush down there so I went to the toilet. To my horror, it was a gush of blood so we called the birth suite and they told us to come straight in. It was the only time I felt scared but I remembered to stay calm and...

We thoroughly enjoyed the hypnobirthing course and we used the techniques during our 18-hour labour.

Hi Melissa,

Thank you for the email. We thoroughly enjoyed the hypnobirthing course and we used the techniques during our 18-hour labour. I did not need any pain relief and can confidently say I was unable to feel much sensation during the final birthing phase, despite muscular fatigue and cramping felt throughout my body.

I required some inducing and an episiotomy to assist the natural vaginal birth after 2 hours of pushing and our baby’s heart dropping. As soon as the incision was made, our son joined us on the earthside. My partner and my mother were my birthing supports which worked incredibly well. My partner providing constant touch and pressure point massage, while my mum offered ice, drinks and heat packs.

Here is a photo that was taken during labour. The image and the sound of Cat Stevens brings the most amazing sense of love and joy and uncontrollable tears. We were so blessed to have a healthy son who we named River Wade...

induction natural birth Dec 07, 2020

Hello Melissa,

When I got home after the birth of my little hypnobub, I really wanted to thank you and share my story. But I got so caught up with my busy life and put my email aside.
She turned one this weekend. It's about time I send it!

We chose to prepare ourselves for the birth of our second baby through your online course for two main reasons: the first was I wanting to achieve a natural birth (I had a good yet not drug free first birthing experience, and I realised afterwards that a lot could have... should have been different because I hadn't been properly informed and prepared), the second was for my husband to feel empowered as a birth partner with tools in his pocket (he didn't really know what to do the first time). We really enjoyed the course. That bit about how our brain works is a good piece knowledge even beyond birth preparation.

At 40 weeks+3 days I met with my obstetrician who, after examining me, was sorry to let me know that my cervix was...

Positive Birth Story Ahead:

Before I start, I can say, without a doubt, Hypnobirthing works! How do I know? I did it! I was focused on a calm, easy birth and that’s what I experienced.
A bit of background: Going into this pregnancy I was a traumatised woman. I had a very complicated and dangerous labour and delivery experience with my first son that resulted in both physical and mental trauma that lasted for over a year. I received help for both but could never truly move past the experience when birth or new babies were mentioned. I often would experience active resentment towards other women who hadn’t hated their birth or new-Mum experience.

A few years later I desperately wanted another child, conceived and managed to block out the entire concept of birthing him until 26 weeks when I ended up in hospital with food poisoning. Just the mere experience of walking through the hospital doors gave me enormous PTSD, I started shaking and crying...

I decided to do a hypnobirthing course which was online as part of my preparation for my labour and birth. I originally did it once by myself and then when it came closer to my EDD I completed it again with my husband which was amazing because he was able to support me so much more during my labour and birth. I also used an Epi-no to help with preparation for my perineum and to also help with understanding the sensation of crowning and be able to use my hypnobirthing breathing techniques to breathe during that time to prevent any tearing.

I was checked by my OB at 37/40 after I requested this and asked for a stretch and sweep every week from then as I knew he was not going to let me go past 40weeks gestation and I wanted to do my best to go into labour without an induction. He told me at 37 weeks I was 1cm dilated, 50% effaced and had bulging...
